How To - Create a Macro for Importing Estimates

This process pertains to using Event 1 Integrator with the optional feature which allows budget amounts to transfer from Prolog Manager to Sage Timberline Office (opposite of the direction supported by the standard license).

IMPORTANT NOTE - A separate macro must be created for each job that you will be importing estimates for.  Therefore these steps need to be repeated for each job.

1.  Make sure an import file presently exists.

The file name of the import-file used by Integrator is "Estimate from Prolog job-number.JCE".  Note that job-number refers to the actual job number as it appears in Timberline Job Cost.  For example, the import file for estimates pertaining to job 03-001 would be named "Estimate from Proog 03-001.JCE".  This file is created automatically when you execute the "Perform Modifications" task with the "Budgets" option selected and budgets are setup to transfer from Prolog Manager to Timberline.  This file will need to exist before you can create a Sage Timberline Office macro.  To create this file manually (if it does not exist yet), follow these steps:

    1. Start Notepad: "<Start> Programs / Accessories / Notepad"
    2. Select "File / Save..."
    3. In the "Save in" drop-down list (at the top), navigate to your Sage Timberline Office data folder.
    4. In the "Save as type:" drop-down list, select "All Files"
    5. In the "Filename:" field, type:  Estimate from Prolog job-number.JCE
      • Example - Estimate from Prolog 03-001.JCE
    6. Click <Save>

2.  Create the Sage Timberline Office Macro

    3. Click on the <Add Step> command button
    4. Select "Tools / Import / Estimates..."
    5. In the "Import file:" field, type:  Estimate from Prolog job-number.JCE
    6. If you perfer for the Sage Timberline Office Import Estimates Recap to be printed to a print file (rather than to a printer), click on <Printer Setup...> and check the "Print to file" checkbox.  Also, click on the "Select File..." command button and specify the file name.  Lastly, click the <OK> command button.
    7. Click <OK> to accept the settings in the "Import Estimates - Print Selection" window.
    8. When prompted "If this step is unsucessful:", answer "Terminate macro immediately" and then click the <OK> command button.
    9. Click the <Save As> command button and specify a filename of: Import Estimates job-number.mac
